
At the age of 27, Jean
is born in Cotonou, capital of Benin. As the son of a percussionist-singer
and priest, he started playing percussion in church very young. He grows up
in a family of musicians, where he also learned how to play the trumpet, the
piano and the guitar.
As a singer and percussionist like his father, he started to play in the Gangbé
Brass Band at the age of 20 (the start of his professional carrier as a musician).
They have several cd's all over the world.
Jean shared his passion for music with Gnonnas Pédro of Africando,
Pierre Vaiana, Don Fiasco, Angélique Kidjo, Lo' Jo Triban, Gilles Louèkè
and the American trombonist Roswell.
Being in Belgium now, Jean is happy to join his passion with Dzidzolie!
Jean is also a teacher for those who like to learn about traditional and modern
African music. He is teaching inthe area of Brussels.
