STICK is the translation of the name “ABAA” in the Ashanti language. Born in a musical family, Stick was surrounded by the rhythms and sounds of traditional instruments. From the age of seven, he learned to play several instruments like… the djembé, conga, apentina, atunpan, fontonfrom, talking drum, doum-doum etc.

Besides traditional percussion, Stick enhanced his musical talent by playing drums for the group Mpse Mpse (highlife music) and also the guitar. This group toured around in different parts of Africa and Europe.

Since he resides in Belgium, “ABAA” continues his passion and plays music, dances and sings with the group Dzidzolie and others.

Music is his life: he composed 15 songs, which are on his CD called “Nyansampo”.
Abaa is also teaching African dance and percussion. (tel: 0485-926.274)
